Introducing: Old Newport

Historically men's specialty shops pride themselves on carrying the best of the best of everything. I've learned over the years that a lot actually plays into that decision. Does it fit the overall aesthetic, how will customer’s both loyal and new respond to it, the list goes on and on. Nine times out of ten however they all seem to offer brands that have been around forever, the one's that have stood the test of time, the one's the customer remembers their Grandfather having, or even the one's they remember from their youth, the nostalgia factor. I get it. I'm on board with it. I'm guilty of it. Hell, half the specialty shops themselves are often just as old, if not older than a majority of the brands they carry. Where does that put us though? Morris & King is just now tapping on the 'Five Year' door. If anything, we’re doing it backwards. A shop in its infancy, tracking down and offering products and brands, some of which date back to the 1800s. The way I see it: There was a point in time when those old menswear stores from back in the day were approached by a new brand, a new product line their customer hadn’t seen before. The same brands you and I now remember from our youth that have stood the test of time were once just starting out. That was my mindset when I was approached by Old Newport.

I’ll be honest, the packaging is what immediately caught my attention. As someone with a design and product development background it checked every box on the list. It's clean, well designed, informative, and looks like it's been around for 100+ years. If this was their goal I'd say "mission accomplished". Not only is it attractive design wise, but the product itself fires on all cylinders. Handmade in the USA (check), each bar is produced in small quantities so they can easily guarantee every batch to have the same level of quality (even bigger check), and because it’s cured properly it lasts far longer than most bar soaps so you get your money’s worth (the biggest check). Now, much like the owner at Old Newport, the older I've become the more cautious I am about what I'm putting on my skin every day. Knowing each bar is made with natural, organic ingredients, handmade by a small, family business who truly care about the quality of their product from all angles; allows me to not only trust the product itself, but be proud to stand behind it.

That being said, I couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce Old Newport to our growing collection of Fragrance & Grooming products. I’ve personally been thoroughly enjoying their line, and excited to see them grow and flourish for many years to come. We currently offer their complete selection of bar soap, each one seemingly better than the next, and I can’t recommend them enough.
